The latest challenge over on the Hero Arts Blog is to Color It! So I have used my water colour pencils to colour in my little scene to make this card below. It's a little hard to see in the photo but the fairy has glittery wings and I made a fairy dust (glitter) trail too.
Supplies - Hero Arts Stamps - CL305 and CL261, Bazzill paper, Bockingford Watercolour Paper.

SPCC #11 - More chances to win Copics!

Another challenge has been posted over at Scrapmaster's Paradise Colour Combo Challenges. The colours look tricky, but green and brown go really well together - look at nature!
Fabulous iCopic.com are the sponsors again this week. They are our sponsors for the whole month! Thanks so much iCopic.com!. Look at the prize below that you can win - fantastic!
So, although it wasn't my Diva week at SPCC, I have made a card for the challenge - and I will be giving it to my Gran who turned 87 on Friday! Happy Birthday Gran. I used a sentiment from the Stampin Up Tiny Messages set and the background is actually a cuttlebug Folder - Victorian - which I used as a stamp. Embossed with versamark, ran it through the Cuttlebug and then embossed with white embossing powder.

2 more cards

Sunday, August 16, 2009
Still on holidays and still making cards - getting inspired at the moment, so the ideas are flowing which is always nice.

I was given the beautiful Cristina Re paper for this card, and it went perfect with the asian doll from the Hero Arts Four Dolls set (CL297). You'll also notice that it is the same paper that my husband used to make my banner.

I stamped the flower in the background with versamark ink then clear embossed it. I then used the Tim Holtz inking tool to rub on the pink ink to really bring out the flowers. I also used black flock on the doll's hair, it worked really well. The sentiment comes from the Sparkle Clear Mini Messages set (CL307). I also used the reverse side of the paper to line the inside of the card, and I folded the card so that you could see the inside on the card when it was closed.
For this card I broke out my Hero Arts High Heels set (CL303). I also used the Background Flourish stamp S5034 with a glue pad and then sprinkled with glitter. Also used glitter on the shoes, so the card is really sparkly.

Next Card Class

I am quite excited about the next card class I am teaching at Create on Garden. I got my hands on some of the beautiful new paper from Kaisercraft's Loire Valley Collection, played around with my stamps and this is what I came up with. I had supplies left over, and as the card did not take very long to make, I decided to add 2 smaller cards, one a gift tag, and the other a small card - no point wasting paper is there!!

I stamped the owl (Hero Arts - F5210 Curious Owl) on two of the patterned papers, then cut them out and layered them. Stamped the branch from Hero Arts CL337 Birds and Branches and cut it out and layered it. The sentiment is from Hero Arts CL180 Happy Greetings.
Couldn't resist using the bird stamp below from the Birds and Branches set, and had to bling him up with blue gems, and one little red one for luck!! Then used a glue pen and glitter to do his curl and his tummy. The sentiment comes from Hero Arts CL255 Holiday Wishes.
Then I had just enough of scrap to do a little gift tag - simple, quick, yet effective and useful.

Thanks to a wonderful hubby!

Just like to say a huge thankyou to a wonderful and talented hubby who prettied up my blog. Don't you just love it. He is so clever!! I am really thrilled with the result.

Christmas Cards

Wednesday, August 12, 2009
Marisa at Create on Garden gave me some beautiful Delish Designs paper to play with to put together some Christmas cards for a possible upcoming class. The paper is so versatile, and you can make so many cards with just the paper and a few embellishments - ribbon, flowers, etc.

The first 2 use the same concept of the background paper, but I played around with the ribbon colour, cardstock colour, and used different sentiments. The Hero Arts Felt poinsettias are great, and it is great to see that they have them again in their latest Holiday Catalogue that has just been released.

For this card I pulled out the EK Success Retro flower punch to make the flower. The ribbon which is called Bisque - actually looks quite gold, so fits in nicely.
I made 4 other cards as well with the papers, so in all 7 for the day - yes I did say I was on holidays, so there will be lots of cards churned out over the next 2 weeks - really looking forward to focussed creativitiy!!! And considering that it is ten to two in the morning, perhaps I should go to bed!!

TTFN!

SPCC Finally Friday - Monotone

Finally got around to playing along with one of SPCC's Finally Friday Challenges. This week the wonderful Robbyn has set the challenge and it is to make a card in Monotone - picking just one colour. So the colour I picked was purple, and okay, her face is flesh colour - but hey I couldn't really make it purple as well!!!

I actually used paint swatches for the project - no better way to get monotone that using paint colours - so many different purples to put together. I stamped the tree (Hero Arts K5094) with the Hero Arts Shadow Ink - Soft Lilac - then embossed with clear embossing powder. Coloured the doll from Hero Arts CL297 with purple copics after embossing her in black. Then layered it all together with lovely gems, and put on a Bazzil Bling purple card and used Martha Stewart ribbon in Plum and Hydrangea - an here we are.

SPCC #10 - Win 12 Copic Markers!!!

Tuesday, August 11, 2009
Hi All - another fantastic week on SPCC. Here are the colours for this week - great inspiration - especially if you want to do Halloween Cards. But being in Australia we don' really do Halloween, so I don't have an Halloween stamps - oh well.
Our sponsor this week is:
iCopic.com as the name suggests is a Copic retailer. They sell all the Copic varieties and accessories for your colouring needs. iCopic.com has awesome prices, great customer service, and an awesome selection. If you need Copic markers, iCopic.com is the place to go, and this week they have offered a fantastic prize - a pack of 12 Copics!!! Amazing - thanks so much iCopic.com - I wish I was in for a chance to win them! I'll just have to drool...
Here is my card - probably my most favourite card that I have ever made - and I used wonderful Copics - love them, love them, love them. I have always been a watercolour pencil girl, so all my images have been really light and shaded. But now I have discovered the wonderful brightness of Copics! I used the following colours: V04 Lilac, YR04 Chrome Orange and Y35 Maize.
I used the copics to colour in some white Kaisercraft flowers, and the paper flowers just sucked the colour in and left them looking amazing and bright. For the flower I used Hero Arts stamp F5158 Heart Winged Butterfly, and stamped him in black and coloured the wings. Then from inspiration from the amazing Ashley - here - I stamped the butterfly with black Staz On onto Acetate and cut it out, bent the wings and overlay it on the coloured butterfly to give it beautiful wings. The sentiment is from Hero Arts Clear Design CL285 and the purple swirl from a Hero Arts Christmas set from a few years ago, which I don't have the number of - sorry. Used a fiskars punch to do the bottom of the card. Gems used from Kaisercraft.

2 Weeks Holiday!

Monday, August 10, 2009
I am officially on 2 weeks holiday from work - my first real break for about 18 months. I changed jobs about 12 months ago, and without really thinking, went straight from one to another. So the only time I have had off is a week at Christmas, which was so super busy it hardly counts as a holiday. So on the insistence of my boss - thanks Annabelle - I have taken two weeks leave.

Everyone keeps asking me where are you going? Well easily answered - nowhere! I am going to enjoy 2 weeks at home pottering in the garden, doing some spring cleaning, spending some time with my son, visit some friends and of course - make LOTS of cards.

But first things first - I have to finish an assignment which is due tomorrow - so you guessed it - I am only really procrastinating by doing this post!!! So I'll have lots to add when I finish as I have a heap of new cards to share.

TTFN! (ta ta for now - for all those Winnie the Pooh watchers!)
