Teaching Classes!!

I have finally started teaching classes at Create on Garden - a local scrapbooking shop in Geelong. I have done two and another one tomorrow - so 3 in 8 days! It is really exciting to share your knowledge with others and see them be enthusiastic too. This is the card that I am doing tomorrow - a baby card - with the gorgeous buttons that I embossed with Pink embossing powder. I have also done a version in blue for the boys - hopefully my class will get the chance to make two cards.

SPCC #8

Can't believe it is another new week already - another Monday - and another SPCC Challenge. This was my first challenge as one of the SP Divas! Head over to Scrapmaster's Paradise Color Combo - here and check out all the SP Diva's fantasitc inspiration.

This is the colour combo for this week, and at first I thought it would be tricky but my card came to me pretty quickly. Don't be intimidated - the colours go together fantastically, giving a really natural, rustic feel. Have a bash and you could win some fantastic prizes from Sammye Jo @ 62 cards.

Here is my card - I first did the stamped images using the colour combo for inspiration for the colour box chalk inks I used. I busted out my Stampin Up set - Botanic Blooms (love the two setp stamping and would be lost without my stamp-a-ma-jig!!) and the sentiment is from Hero Arts CL231 - Happy Hello. I think the button came from a Basic Grey set, and the green ribbon from Cristina Re, and the green grosgrain ribbon from Kaisercraft. Love the string - gives a really natural look.

I {HEART} Hero Arts Blog Hop

So excited about this blog hop - that I am up at midnight Australian time finishing my card and posting it here!!! Thanks so much to Ashley for organising the blog hop - she is such an inspiration to me!! Love all your designs Ashley!!!

I used lots of Hero Arts goodies!! For the background used the lovely S5099 Misty Swirl Pattern, stamped on watercolour paper with Soft Lilac Shadow Ink and Soft Leaf Shadow Ink. The sentiment is an old Hero Arts one - LL229 A Great Big. I then used birds from 2 sets, LP103 Holiday Birds and LP032 Decorative Birds. Also used felt flowers from CH175 Spring Felpot Flowers. Really, all Hero Arts need to come out with is some Ribbon, and where else would you need to shop!!!

Now to the questions - where did my Hero Arts journey start??? Well I have been stamping since about 1994, and when I look back in my stash, Hero Arts stamps have always had pride of place - what a long way Hero Arts has come. I had a hiatus from stamping for about 8 years, and have gotten back into it over the last few years, and I think my stamp stash is now 80% Hero Arts - I can't wait for the new products and the next catalogue and always have room for the next cute stamp!!

I am so thankful to Hero Arts for their inspiration, encouragement, challenges, great products and for bringing together so many wonderful stampers into a great online community, where encouragement is the first words everyone types, and you feel honoured when someone likes how you put your card together.

SP Colour Combo#7

Time for another Scrapmaster's Paradise Colour Combo - here. Love these summery colours - brightens up things here in cold Victoria - I think it is about 7 degrees and raining outside at the moment. But then again most normal people are probably tucked up in bed at this time - midnight!!! Once again I have been caught out doing more cards - I have to admit it is an addiction!!

So here is the card that I came up with. I wanted a quite neutral subtle background so I used Kraft cardstock. I used Hero Arts stamps, gems and flowers. The yellow and blue flower I found in a pack of Making Memories {note}worthy glitter diecuts. Matched pefectly!

Red Bird

I have been doing some cards on request from work colleagues - I think they are just wanting to see what I come up with each time and I am loving the challenge. This is a birthday card for a 20-something girl. I drew some inspiration from the recent Creative Cardmaking & Papercraft magazine where they used vellum and Japanese inspired paper. I thought stamping on vellum would be a bit tricky, but it was so easy. I just used versamark ink and gold embossing powder.

SP Diva!

I am so excited, and feel honoured to have been selected as one of the SP Diva's on the design team for Scrapmaster's Paradise Color Combos - here. This is a blog created by Samantha, where she posts colour combination challenges each Monday for you to use as inspiration to create a card or a scrapbook layout. Colour Inspiration #56

Seems I am becoming a little addicted to these challenges - they are such great inspiration when I am sitting at my desk staring at a blank card. This week I have played along with Kristina Werner's 56th Color Inspiration Challenge - here.

Here is the card I came up with. I absolutely love doing scenic cards - I like them to be able to tell a little story. Marisa at Create on Garden gave me the fabulous ribbon I used for the stems with the gorgeous leaves - she wanted to see what I could create. It is perfect for flower stems.

I used one of my favourite Hero Arts stamps - the Cloud design block, but I don't know the brand of the stamp i used for the flowers. The sun stamp came from my 4 year old son's stash. I gave him his own farm animal set of stamps, and they are just so darn cute - and the sun was perfect!.

SPCC #6

Played along with SPCC#6 - and after I had been to the shop and came back I realised that the colour that I chose to represent the razzleberry was more berry than purple - oh well, come from not having my colour printer working so I could print out the swatch.

Here is the card I came up with - as I do not have the Stampin' Up colours I had to improvise so not an exact match - but I had a go. I am disappointed at the wrong purply colour :( At least I had a go I suppose. I liked how the card turned out though - It will be good for a birthday card for one of my son's friends.

Color Throwdown #51

Played along this week with Color Throwdown #51 - here. Lovely shades of lavender, green an yellow.

Here is the card I came up with. I was inspired by a card on the Hero Arts blog - here. And also this week on the Hero Arts blog the challenge is to make a card which has been inspired by something you have seen on their brand new website - check it out here. The website looks great. It is a bit hard to see in this photo but I used stickles on the swirls on the scalloped stamp to make it all glittery.

Two for one - two challenges - one card

Wow - this is a first time for me to use two challenges for inspiration. I played along with SPCC for the colour inspiration -

And then I decided to play along with Mojo Monday week 94 for the layout inspiration -

I will be giving this card to my husband's grandmother who is in hospital with serious burns, so hopefully it will bring a smile to her face. I used a brand new set of stamps I got in the mailbox today from Woodware stamps - FRCL081 - Get Well Soon.

Buttons Challenge

I think I tend to use buttons quite a lot on the cards that I make, so this challenge over at Charisma Cardz - here - is one that I wanted to put something up on.

Yes once again another baby card - seem to be doing so many of them lately - so many babies around, and so many requests to make cards for friends to give to their friends - I am quite flattered! So even though there are only two tiny buttons for wheels - I think they are cute! I think it was a Fiskars baby stamp set for the elephant.

Raspberry Suite Color Challenge #11

I finally got around to playing along with Dawn McVey's Raspberry Suite Colour Challenge #11. And for me it was very challenging.

Here is the card I came up with. I used a Penny Black Stamp 3867K Constellations, and stamped it with pink, red and green colorbox chalk ink. I put gems on the flower for bling and then used some kindy glitz as well which doesn't show up very well on the picture. Need to get my cards done earlier in the day so I can take pictures of them in better light! For the sentiment I used Hero Arts Sparkle Clear CL307 - Mini Messages.

Time for a change

I got a bit sick of the dots on my other template - so have gone for this one - still have to do something about a banner for the top - that will be a project for my husband - so handy having a graphic designer in the family!

Stuck at home feeling horrible, with a bad cold - and looking after a sick 4 year old as well - getting to the end of the day and feeling very tired.

Been busy lately!

I have been rather busy making cards lately both for myself, for a few requests from work colleagues, and getting ready for my first card making classes that I will be teaching at Create on Garden!!! So exciting I know, but a little daunting as well. Anyway, I thought that I would share with you what I have been making.

Anyway this first card I made for my friend's little boy who just turned 2 and I missed his birthday!!! Feel so bad about it, but to have the glass half full attitude, it was a perfect opportunity to pull out my Stampin Up stamps - Unfrogettable. He is so cute. So this card can now go in the mail and I can cross it off the list (Yes the list of cards to make is verrrry longgggg.....)

These next 2 cards I made for a colleague at work who wanted a card for her daughter's 30th, and for her partner's 50th.

I used lots of Bazzil bling - silver, pink and black for the first one - black and pink always look amazing together. Used some Stampin Up stamps and for the Sentiment I used an alphabet set from MSE.

For this last card, my instructions were for a 50th birthday, for a mad keen Melbourne Supporter - AFL Football. So the card came instantly to my mind to replicate the Melbourne gurnsey with the Navy Blue and Red.
